Ingredients

Scale
  1. 2 cups (500 ml) full-fat milk (or 2%)
  2. ¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar
  3. Pinch of baking soda (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Heat the Milk

  • In a medium-sized pan, combine the milk and sugar.
  • Heat over medium-high, stirring frequently, until the mixture begins to reduce.

Step 2: Boil and Reduce

  • Bring the mixture to a gentle boil while stirring constantly to prevent sticking.
  • Once boiling, lower the heat to medium and continue stirring until the milk thickens (about 20–25 minutes).

Step 3: Add Baking Soda (Optional)

  • Turn off the heat and stir in a pinch of baking soda. This step helps prevent crystallization and gives a smoother texture.

Step 4: Cool and Store

  • Allow the mixture to cool while stirring occasionally to avoid forming a skin on top.
  • Once cooled, transfer the condensed milk to an airtight jar and refrigerate.

Notes

  • For a creamier texture, use full-fat milk.
  • The pinch of baking soda is optional but helps improve consistency and shelf life.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week in a sealed container.
