1 ½ pounds ground beef
2 cans (30 ounces) tomato sauce
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
8 ounces sour cream
2 tsp garlic, minced
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp sugar
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
1 ½ cups cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
Cook the Pasta:
Cook the egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and rinse them, then set aside.
Cook the Ground Beef:
In a skillet over medium-high heat, crumble and cook the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain any excess grease.
Prepare the Meat Sauce:
Add minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the beef, stirring to combine. Stir in the sugar, then pour in the tomato sauce and stir again. Let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes.
Combine Sour Cream & Cream Cheese:
In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Mix until smooth.
Assemble the Casserole:
Layer half of the cooked egg noodles at the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Spread half of the cream cheese and sour cream mixture over the noodles, then spoon half of the meat mixture on top.
Repeat the Layers:
Layer the remaining noodles, sour cream mixture, and meat sauce. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
Bake:
Place the casserole in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the meat mixture for some heat.
You can substitute the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
This casserole is perfect for meal prep and can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
