Description

This Walking Frito Pie is a deliciously hearty and easy-to-make dish that’s perfect for game day, parties, or a quick dinner. Ground beef, chili sauce, and crispy Fritos corn chips are topped with sour cream, cheddar cheese, and jalapeños for the ultimate comfort food

Ingredients

Scale
    1. 2 pounds ground beef
    2. 3 cloves small garlic, minced
    3. 1 small onion, diced
    4. 15-ounce can tomato sauce
    5. 6-ounce can tomato paste
    6. 12 Tablespoons chili powder (or to taste)
    7. 1 teaspoon ground cumin
    8. 2 teaspoons salt
    9. ¾ cup water (or beef broth)
    10. 9.25-ounce bag Fritos corn chips (original or chili cheese flavor)

For topping:

    1. Sour cream
    2. Grated cheddar cheese
    3. Diced red onion
    4. Minced jalapeño peppers

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown and crumble 2 pounds ground beef along with 3 cloves garlic and 1 small onion. Drain excess grease and return to skillet.
  • Add in 15-ounce can tomato sauce, 6-ounce can tomato paste, 1-2 tablespoons chili powder, 1 teaspoon ground cumin, 2 teaspoons salt, and ¾ cup water. Stir until well combined.
  • Turn heat to medium-low and allow the mixture to simmer for at least 20 minutes.
  • Place the 9.25-ounce bag of Fritos corn chips in a large bowl or on a plate.
  • Top with the chili mixture. You can serve this as a single large serving or as individual servings.
  • Add desired toppings: sour cream, grated cheddar cheese, diced red onion, and minced jalapeño peppers. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the level of chili powder to your taste for spiciness.
  • You can use beef broth instead of water for a richer flavor.
  • For a lighter version, try substituting lean ground turkey for the beef.
