Description

Death by Chocolate Poke Cake is a rich, moist, and indulgent dessert layered with chocolate cake, fudge, pudding, and whipped topping—perfect for serious chocolate lovers.


Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients called for on the box: usually water, eggs, and oil)
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 jar (12 oz) hot fudge sauce
  • 1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 container (8 oz) frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • Chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to the temperature specified on the cake mix box. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package instructions. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake as directed, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Once the cake is baked and still warm, use the back of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the top of the cake.
  4. Warm the hot fudge sauce slightly to make it pourable and pour it over the cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk. Before the pudding sets, pour it over the cake and spread evenly.
  6. Refrigerate the cake for about 1 hour to cool and let the pudding set.
