Description

These Toll House cookie bars are incredibly easy to make and pack all the classic chocolate chip cookie flavors into soft, chewy bars. Perfect for any occasion, they’re sure to be a crowd favorite!


Ingredients

  1. For the Cookie Bars:

    1. 2 ½ cups (270g) all-purpose flour

    2. 1 tablespoon cornstarch

    3. 1 teaspoon baking soda

    4. 1 teaspoon salt

    5. 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened

    6. 1 cup (150g) granulated sugar

    7. ½ cup (150g) light brown sugar, lightly packed

    8. 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

    9. 2 large eggs, at room temperature

    10. 2 cups (350g) semisweet chocolate chips

    11. 1 cup (100g) chopped pecans (optional)


Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and line a 9×13 inch (approx. 23×33 cm) baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

  • In a separate large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

  • Mix in the eggs until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.

  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture. Mix just until no streaks of flour remain.

  • Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped pecans (if using).

  • Evenly press the dough into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cookie bars are golden brown on top.

 

  • Allow the bars to cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing into 24 pieces.


Notes

  • Let the cookie bars cool completely for cleaner slices.

  • If you prefer chewy cookie bars, check them after 25 minutes of baking; for crispier bars, bake for a full 30 minutes.

 

  • You can store leftovers in an airtight container for up to a week.
