Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon orange extract
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- ½ cup white chocolate chips
- ½ cup orange preserves or jam
Instructions
- Prepare the Oven and Baking Sheet: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set the dry mixture aside.
- Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar using a hand mixer or stand mixer. Beat until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, orange extract, and orange zest. Continue beating until well combined.
- Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix the dough.
- Add White Chocolate Chips: Fold in the white chocolate chips gently to distribute them evenly throughout the dough.
- Form and Fill Cookies: Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie. Use the back of a spoon to make a small indentation in the center of each cookie. Fill each indentation with a small amount of orange preserves.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are slightly golden.
- Cool Completely: Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes. Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
Notes
- For extra orange flavor, you can add more orange zest to the dough.
- You can use dark or milk chocolate chips if you prefer a different flavor.
- Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
- If the orange preserves are too thick, warm them slightly before using for easier filling.
