Description

This Old Fashioned Goulash is the ultimate comfort food, packed with rich flavors and melted cheddar cheese. It’s a hearty, easy-to-make dish that will become a family favorite!

Ingredients

Scale
  1. 1 lb elbow macaroni
  2. 2 lbs ground beef
  3. 1 onion, finely chopped
  4. 3 cloves garlic, minced
  5. 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  6. 2 (15 oz) cans tomato sauce
  7. 2 (14.5 oz) cans petite diced tomatoes
  8. 1 ½ tbsp Italian seasoning
  9. 2 tsp salt
  10. ½ tsp black pepper
  11. 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Boil the pasta: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook the elbow macaroni but stop 3 minutes before the time on the box suggests. Drain and set aside.
  • Cook the beef: Heat a large skillet over high heat. Add ground beef and chopped onion, cooking for 6-7 minutes. Break up the beef as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
  • Add flavor: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute. Then, mix in Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes. Stir to combine.
  • Season it up: Add Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Taste and adjust the seasonings as needed.
  • Combine & bake: Stir in the cooked macaroni and shredded cheddar cheese. If your skillet is oven-safe, pop it in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and the cheese is melted. If not, transfer the mixture to a casserole dish and bake.
  • Serve hot: Serve the goulash hot, and enjoy the cozy, cheesy goodness!

Notes

  • Feel free to top with extra cheese or fresh herbs before serving for added flavor.
  • If you prefer a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or your favorite hot sauce to the mix.
  • This dish can be made in advance and stored in the fridge for up to 2-3 days.
