This Old Fashioned Goulash is the ultimate comfort food, packed with rich flavors and melted cheddar cheese. It’s a hearty, easy-to-make dish that will become a family favorite!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb elbow macaroni
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 (15 oz) cans tomato sauce
- 2 (14.5 oz) cans petite diced tomatoes
- 1 ½ tbsp Italian seasoning
- 2 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Boil the pasta: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook the elbow macaroni but stop 3 minutes before the time on the box suggests. Drain and set aside.
- Cook the beef: Heat a large skillet over high heat. Add ground beef and chopped onion, cooking for 6-7 minutes. Break up the beef as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
- Add flavor: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute. Then, mix in Worcestershire sauce, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes. Stir to combine.
- Season it up: Add Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Taste and adjust the seasonings as needed.
- Combine & bake: Stir in the cooked macaroni and shredded cheddar cheese. If your skillet is oven-safe, pop it in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and the cheese is melted. If not, transfer the mixture to a casserole dish and bake.
- Serve hot: Serve the goulash hot, and enjoy the cozy, cheesy goodness!
Notes
- Feel free to top with extra cheese or fresh herbs before serving for added flavor.
- If you prefer a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or your favorite hot sauce to the mix.
- This dish can be made in advance and stored in the fridge for up to 2-3 days.
