- 1 pound ground beef
- ¼ cup bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon seasoned salt
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 cup thinly sliced onion
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon cooking sherry
- ½ teaspoon seasoned salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix well and shape the mixture into 4 patties.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4–5 minutes per side, or until they are browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the thinly sliced onions and cook over medium heat for 4–5 minutes, or until the onions are softened and beginning to caramelize.
- Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir well to combine. Cook for 1–2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
- Gradually add the beef broth, stirring constantly, to create a smooth gravy. Stir in the cooking sherry and seasoned salt.
- Return the patties to the skillet and simmer for 5–7 minutes, or until the gravy has thickened and the patties are heated through.
- Serve the hamburger steaks topped with the onion gravy. Enjoy!

- For extra richness, substitute part of the beef broth with cream or milk.
