Ingredients

Scale

Marinade Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup avocado oil
  • ⅓ cup liquid aminos or low-sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl or jar, whisk together all ingredients until well combined.
  2. Place tri tip in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over the meat.
  3. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.
  4. Remove the meat from the marinade and grill, broil, or sear to your desired doneness.
  5. Let the tri tip rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing against the grain. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a bolder kick, add more sriracha or a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes.
  • This marinade works well for other cuts too—try it with flank steak or chicken thighs.
  • Use a food-safe plastic bag or non-metallic container for marinating.
  • Leftover marinade (not used on raw meat) can be simmered and used as a sauce.
  • To enhance the flavor further, score the tri tip lightly before marinating.
