Ingredients
Scale
2 large onions
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
Prepare onions: Slice the onions into 1/2-inch thick rings.
Make the batter: In a bowl, whisk together flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk and egg.
Coat the onions: Dip each onion ring into the egg mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture. Shake off any excess flour.
Bake: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the coated onion rings on the baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Top with cheese: Remove from the oven and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
For extra crunch, you can add breadcrumbs to the flour mixture.
You can serve with dipping sauces like ranch or marinara.
These can also be made in an air fryer for a quicker, healthier option.
