Crispy and flavorful baked onion rings with a golden coating and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. A perfect appetizer or side dish for any meal!

Ingredients

Scale
  1. 2 large onions
  2. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  3. 1 teaspoon salt
  4. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  5. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  6. 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  7. 1/2 cup milk
  8. 1 egg
  9. 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Prepare onions: Slice the onions into 1/2-inch thick rings.
  • Make the batter: In a bowl, whisk together flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk and egg.
  • Coat the onions: Dip each onion ring into the egg mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture. Shake off any excess flour.
  • Bake: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the coated onion rings on the baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Top with cheese: Remove from the oven and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra crunch, you can add breadcrumbs to the flour mixture.
  • You can serve with dipping sauces like ranch or marinara.
  • These can also be made in an air fryer for a quicker, healthier option.
