Description
This Homemade McGriddle recipe brings the sweet and savory magic of the fast-food classic to your own kitchen—fluffy maple-infused pancake buns sandwiching sizzling sausage, gooey American cheese, and a perfectly cooked egg.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup (plus extra for drizzling)
- 4 breakfast sausage patties
- 4 slices American cheese
- 4 eggs
- Butter or oil (for cooking)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add egg, milk, melted butter, and maple syrup to the dry ingredients. Stir just until combined.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it. Pour small rounds of batter (3–4 inches wide) and cook until bubbles form on the surface. Flip and cook until golden brown. Repeat until you have 8 pancakes.
- In a separate skillet, cook the sausage patties until browned and cooked through.
- In the same pan, fry eggs to your preferred doneness. Use an egg ring for round shape if desired.
- To assemble, place a pancake on a plate. Top with a sausage patty, slice of American cheese, and a fried egg. Drizzle with extra maple syrup if desired. Top with another pancake.
- Repeat to make 4 sandwiches. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Use egg rings for perfectly shaped eggs and pancakes.
- Swap sausage with bacon if you prefer a crispier filling.
- Maple syrup can be added directly to the batter or drizzled over before serving for extra sweetness.
- These sandwiches can be wrapped and frozen for meal prep—just reheat in a toaster oven or microwave.
