			For the Sauce:
- 1 cup water
 - 1 cup sugar
 - ¼ cup vinegar
 - 1 tbsp red pepper flakes
 - 1 tbsp smoked paprika
 - 2 tbsps soy sauce
 - 2 tbsps minced garlic
 
For the Cornstarch Slurry:
- 3 tbsps cornstarch
 - 3 tbsps water
 
Instructions
- Prepare the Simple Syrup:
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil while stirring until the sugar fully dissolves. - Add the Flavors:
Stir in the red pepper flakes, smoked paprika, soy sauce, vinegar, and minced garlic. Mix well and let the flavors simmer for 2–3 minutes. - Thicken the Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Slowly whisk the slurry into the saucepan, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens. - Cool and Serve:
Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool completely before serving. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. 
Notes
- For a spicier sauce, increase the red pepper flakes or add fresh chili peppers.
 - Use rice vinegar for a more traditional Asian flavor.
 - Pair with spring rolls, grilled chicken, or seafood.
