A deliciously sweet, sticky, and slightly spicy sauce that elevates any dish! Perfect as a dipping sauce, marinade, or glaze. Its bold flavors of garlic, paprika, and soy make it versatile and irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Sauce:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup vinegar
  • 1 tbsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tbsps soy sauce
  • 2 tbsps minced garlic

For the Cornstarch Slurry:

  1. 3 tbsps cornstarch
  2. 3 tbsps water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Simple Syrup:
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil while stirring until the sugar fully dissolves.
  2. Add the Flavors:
Stir in the red pepper flakes, smoked paprika, soy sauce, vinegar, and minced garlic. Mix well and let the flavors simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Thicken the Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Slowly whisk the slurry into the saucepan, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
  4. Cool and Serve:
Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool completely before serving. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • For a spicier sauce, increase the red pepper flakes or add fresh chili peppers.
  • Use rice vinegar for a more traditional Asian flavor.
  • Pair with spring rolls, grilled chicken, or seafood.
