Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350ºF.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl or mixer, cream together butter and both sugars until fluffy and lightened in color. Mix in egg and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until fully incorporated. If desired, chill dough for 30–40 minutes.
- Scoop dough into 1-inch balls using a tablespoon or small ice cream scoop. Place on an ungreased baking sheet, 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10–11 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned.
- For the glaze (optional): whisk together powdered sugar and vanilla extract in a bowl. Mix in maple syrup and whisk until smooth. Add milk to adjust consistency if needed.
- Pour glaze over cooled cookies and let set before serving.
Notes
- Chilling the dough helps prevent the cookies from spreading too much while baking.
- Adjust the glaze consistency with milk if needed for a smoother finish.
- If you prefer a thicker glaze, use less milk.
- Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 3–4 days.
