Description

Crispy mashed potato nests filled with a flavorful ground beef mixture and melted mozzarella cheese, perfect for a hearty and delicious meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 35 large potatoes
  • 3.5 tbsp (50 g) butter
  • A bunch of fresh dill
  • A little salt, smoked paprika, black pepper, oregano
  • 1.1 lbs (500 g) ground beef
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 large tomato
  • 2.5 oz (70 g) tomato paste
  • A bunch of fresh parsley
  • 3.5 oz (100 g) mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Peel and boil the potatoes until fork-tender. Drain and mash with butter, dill, salt, smoked paprika, black pepper, and oregano until smooth.
  2. In a pan, cook the ground beef with chopped onion, garlic, and red bell pepper until browned.
  3. Chop the tomato and add it to the beef mixture along with the tomato paste. Cook for a few more minutes until everything is well combined.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a muffin tin.
  5. Form the mashed potatoes into small nests by pressing the mixture into the muffin tin, making a well in the center to hold the filling.
  6. Spoon the ground beef mixture into each potato nest.
  7. Top each nest with shredded mozzarella cheese and bake for 15–20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the seasoning to taste with extra herbs or spices.
  • If you prefer a vegetarian version, swap the ground beef for a plant-based protein or vegetable filling.
  • Make sure the mashed potatoes are not too runny to hold their shape in the nest form.
