Crispy mashed potato nests filled with a flavorful ground beef mixture and melted mozzarella cheese, perfect for a hearty and delicious meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3–5 large potatoes
- 3.5 tbsp (50 g) butter
- A bunch of fresh dill
- A little salt, smoked paprika, black pepper, oregano
- 1.1 lbs (500 g) ground beef
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 large tomato
- 2.5 oz (70 g) tomato paste
- A bunch of fresh parsley
- 3.5 oz (100 g) mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Peel and boil the potatoes until fork-tender. Drain and mash with butter, dill, salt, smoked paprika, black pepper, and oregano until smooth.
- In a pan, cook the ground beef with chopped onion, garlic, and red bell pepper until browned.
- Chop the tomato and add it to the beef mixture along with the tomato paste. Cook for a few more minutes until everything is well combined.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a muffin tin.
- Form the mashed potatoes into small nests by pressing the mixture into the muffin tin, making a well in the center to hold the filling.
- Spoon the ground beef mixture into each potato nest.
- Top each nest with shredded mozzarella cheese and bake for 15–20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Feel free to adjust the seasoning to taste with extra herbs or spices.
- If you prefer a vegetarian version, swap the ground beef for a plant-based protein or vegetable filling.
- Make sure the mashed potatoes are not too runny to hold their shape in the nest form.
