Description

This fun and delicious treat is a twist on the classic puppy chow! With the sweet, fruity flavor of strawberry and the richness of white chocolate, it’s the perfect snack for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  1. 5 cups Rice Chex cereal – A crispy, crunchy base for the puppy chow.
  2. 1 Big Box Strawberry Jello Mix – Adds a fruity, sweet strawberry flavor.
  3. 1 cup powdered sugar – Gives the mix a sweet and sugary coating.
  4. 1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips – Provides smooth, creamy texture and sweetness.
  5. 1/4 cup butter – Helps melt the white chocolate into a silky coating.
  6. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – Enhances the flavor of the chocolate.
  7. 1 cup freeze-dried strawberries, crushed (optional) – Adds extra strawberry flavor and a nice texture.

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cereal: In a large mixing bowl, add 5 cups of Rice Chex cereal. Set aside.
  • Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips and butter together in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract once melted.
  • Coat the Cereal: Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the Rice Chex cereal, gently tossing to coat evenly.
  • Add the Jello and Sugar: In a separate bowl, mix together the strawberry jello mix and powdered sugar.
  • Combine in a Bag: Transfer the coated cereal to a large resealable plastic bag. Add the jello mix and powdered sugar mixture, seal the bag, and shake until the cereal is fully coated.
  • Cool the Coating: Spread the coated cereal on a baking sheet to cool and harden.
  • Add Freeze-Dried Strawberries: Once the mix has cooled, sprinkle the crushed freeze-dried strawberries on top for extra flavor and texture.
  • Serve: Store in an airtight container for the freshest taste. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For a stronger strawberry flavor, add more freeze-dried strawberries to the mix.
  • The puppy chow can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
