With just a few simple ingredients, this no-fuss dump cake recipe is a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

Scale
  1. 2 (15 oz) cans strawberry pie filling

  2. 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  3. 1 large egg

  4. ¼ cup granulated sugar

  5. 1 box vanilla or white cake mix

  6. ½ cup salted butter, cold

  7. Fresh strawberries (whole or halved), for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or spray with non-stick spray.

  • Assemble the Layers:
Spread the strawberry pie filling evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
In a bowl, beat together cream cheese, egg, and sugar until smooth and creamy.
Spoon dollops of the cream cheese mixture over the strawberry filling and gently spread to even it out.
Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the cream cheese layer.

  • Add the Butter:
Slice cold butter into very thin pats and distribute evenly over the cake mix. Try to cover as much of the surface as possible for a golden, crispy topping.

  • Bake & Serve:
Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the strawberry filling is bubbling.
Allow to cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh strawberries, if desired.

Notes

  • This recipe is incredibly versatile! You can substitute the strawberry pie filling with other fruit fillings like blueberry, cherry, or raspberry for a different flavor.

  • Make sure to use cold butter for the best golden and crispy topping.

  • Serve this cake with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.

  • For a richer flavor, you can also add a bit of vanilla extract to the cream cheese mixture.
