Ingredients

Scale
  1. For the Dough:

    • 1 cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
    • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (or 1 packet)
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 large egg
    • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt

    For the Strawberry Filling:

    • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries, chopped
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
    • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
    • 2 tablespoons softened butter (for spreading)

    For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

    1. 4 oz cream cheese, softened
    2. 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
    3. 1 cup powdered sugar
    4. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    5. 2 tablespoons heavy cream (for a smoother texture)

Instructions

  • Make the Dough:

    • In a small bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
    • In a large bowl, mix together melted butter, egg, flour, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and stir until a soft dough forms.
    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  • Prepare the Strawberry Filling:

    • In a small saucepan, combine chopped strawberries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens (about 5-7 minutes). Let it cool completely.
    • Once cooled, gently mash the mixture to make it easier to spread.
  • Assemble the Rolls:

    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
    • Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle (approximately 12×18 inches) on a floured surface.
    • Spread softened butter over the dough, then evenly spread the cooled strawberry filling on top, leaving a small border around the edges.
    • Roll the dough tightly from the long side to form a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces.
    • Arrange the rolls in the prepared baking dish, cover with a towel, and let them rise for an additional 20-30 minutes.
  • Bake the Rolls:

    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let the rolls cool slightly.
  • Make the Cream Cheese Frosting:

    • In a medium bowl, beat together softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream until smooth and fluffy.
  • Frost & Serve:

    • Generously spread the cream cheese frosting over the warm rolls. Garnish with additional chopped strawberries if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy!

Notes

  • Make sure to let the rolls rise as instructed to ensure they are soft and fluffy.
  • For added flavor, you can sprinkle a bit of powdered sugar on top before serving.
