Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Italian sausage (casings removed)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 8 oz pasta (penne or spaghetti)
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta: Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Cook the sausage: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sausage, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, and cook for 5-7 minutes, until browned and cooked through.
- Add garlic: Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Make the sauce: Stir in the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Let the mixture simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and becomes sticky.
- Combine with pasta: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the sticky sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish and serve: Garnish with chopped parsley and grated Parmesan cheese, if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Adjust the red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level.
- For a gluten-free version, substitute the pasta with gluten-free penne or spaghetti.
- If you don’t have apple cider vinegar, you can substitute with white vinegar or rice vinegar.
