Ingredients

Scale
  1. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  2. 2 teaspoons baking powder
  3. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  4. 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  5. 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  6. 1/2 cup milk
  7. 1/3 cup melted butter
  8. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  9. 1 cup brown sugar
  10. 1/4 cup cocoa powder (for topping)
  11. 1 1/2 cups boiling water

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, and 2 tablespoons cocoa powder.
  • Stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until a smooth batter forms.
  • Spread the batter evenly into a greased 9×9-inch baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the brown sugar and remaining 1/4 cup cocoa powder over the batter.
  • Carefully pour the boiling water over the top of the mixture without stirring.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is set but the inside is still gooey and molten.
  • Let cool slightly before serving, preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence!

Notes

  • The gooey consistency in the center of the cobbler is part of its charm! Let it cool slightly before serving so it thickens just enough to enjoy.
  • For extra decadence, serve with whipped cream or a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
