Ingredients
- 3 pounds ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 can pinto beans
- 1 can black beans
- 1 can chopped tomatoes with green chili
- 1 can green chilies
- 1 packet taco seasoning
Instructions

Brown the Ground Beef:
In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat. Add the chopped onion and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onion is softened. -
Add to Slow Cooker:
Transfer the browned beef and onions to the slow cooker. -
Add Remaining Ingredients:
Add the pinto beans, black beans, chopped tomatoes with green chili, green chilies, and taco seasoning to the slow cooker. Stir to combine. -
Cook:
Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours. -
Serve:
Serve hot, and enjoy your hearty Taco Soup! Optionally, top with sour cream, cheese, and tortilla chips for added flavor.
Notes
- You can adjust the heat by adding more or less of the green chilies.
- If you prefer a thicker soup, you can mash some of the beans in the soup with a spoon.
- For a vegetarian version, simply replace the ground beef with a meat substitute or additional beans.
