Perfect for busy nights and cooler days, these Slow Cooker Potatoes are tender, flavorful, and require minimal effort. The Lipton Onion Soup mix, melted butter, and optional cheddar cheese make this dish an irresistible side.

Ingredients

Scale
  1. 6 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  2. 1 packet Lipton Onion Soup mix
  3. 1/3 cup butter, melted
  4. 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  5. 1/2 cup chicken broth or water
  6. Salt and pepper, to taste
  7. Cooking spray or butter (for greasing)

Instructions

  • Grease the Slow Cooker: Thoroughly grease the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray or butter to prevent sticking.
  • Prepare the Potatoes: Wash and peel the potatoes if desired, then thinly slice them for even cooking.
  • Season the Potatoes: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced potatoes with melted butter. Sprinkle the Lipton Onion Soup mix over the potatoes and mix well to distribute flavors evenly.
  • Optional Cheese: If using, add shredded cheddar cheese to the potato mixture and mix gently.
  • Layer and Add Liquid: Carefully layer the seasoned potatoes into the slow cooker. Pour chicken broth or water over the top to help steam the potatoes.
  • Cook: Cover and cook on low for 5–6 hours or on high for 2–3 hours, depending on your slow cooker and potato thickness.
  • Finish and Serve: Once the potatoes are tender, taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a creamier finish, use heavy cream instead of chicken broth or water.
  • Add some crispy bacon bits or green onions as toppings for extra flavor.
