This Sloppy Joe Crescent Bake is the ultimate comfort food casserole! A delicious twist on the classic sloppy joe, this dish layers saucy ground beef, gooey cheese, and buttery crescent rolls into a bubbly, golden bake. - 2 (8-oz) cans crescent dough sheets
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 slices American cheese
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
- For the Sloppy Joe Filling:
- 2 lb ground beef
- 1 (8-oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 4 tsp yellow mustard
- 4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 4 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 4 tsp brown sugar
- 4 tsp chili powder
- 4 tsp onion powder
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1 Tbsp hot water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375ºF. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat.
- Return meat to skillet. Stir in tomato sauce, BBQ sauce, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, chili powder, onion powder, and garlic powder. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Mix cornstarch and hot water in a small bowl. Add to the skillet and cook for 1–2 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat.
- Press one can of crescent dough into the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Spoon the sloppy joe mixture over the cheese. Layer the American cheese slices on top.
- Cover with the second can of crescent dough. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, until the crescent top is golden brown.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For added flavor, you can use a combination of cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.
- Serve with a side salad or steamed veggies to balance the richness of the dish.
- To make it spicier, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the sloppy joe mixture.
