These sumac onions are tangy, slightly sweet, and full of bright Middle Eastern flavors. They add the perfect kick to grilled meats, wraps, kebabs, or salads! An easy and vibrant side dish to elevate any meal.

Ingredients

  1. 1 large red onion, thinly sliced
  2. 1 tbsp sumac
  3. 1/2 tsp salt
  4. 1 tbsp lemon juice (or vinegar)
  5. 1 tbsp olive oil
  6. 2 tbsp chopped parsley (optional, for freshness)

Instructions

  • Slice the Onion
    • Thinly slice the red onion and place it in a bowl.
  • Add the Seasoning
    • Sprinkle sumac and salt over the onions.
  • Toss with Lemon & Olive Oil
    • Drizzle with lemon juice and olive oil.
    • Toss everything together until well coated.
  • Let it Rest
    • Let sit for 10-15 minutes to soften and absorb the flavors.
  • Garnish & Serve
    • Add chopped parsley if using, mix again, and serve!
