- 2 teaspoons minced ginger
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled, deveined, and roughly chopped
- 2 tablespoons minced cilantro
- 1/3 cup diced water chestnuts
- 1 egg white
- 1 thinly sliced green onion
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 10 slices milk bread (or white bread), crusts removed and each cut into 2 triangles
- 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
- 1/2 cup neutral oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine shrimp, ginger, garlic, cilantro, water chestnuts, egg white, green onion, sesame oil, salt, and white pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Spread about 1 tablespoon of the shrimp mixture onto each bread triangle.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds over the shrimp topping and gently press to adhere.
- In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat.
- Place toast shrimp-side down and fry for 2–3 minutes, then flip and fry the bread side for another 1–2 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
Notes
- Use very fresh shrimp for the best flavor and texture.
- Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent soggy toast.
- You can prep the shrimp mixture a few hours ahead and refrigerate until ready to use.
- Serve with sweet chili sauce or soy dipping sauce for extra flavor.
