Description

Shortcut Cherry Danish is a quick and delicious pastry made with crescent dough, cream cheese, and cherry pie filling, topped with a sweet glaze. Perfect for breakfast or a sweet treat!


Ingredients

  • 1 (8-ounce) tube crescent dough sheet
  • 4 ounces reduced-fat cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract, divided
  • 1/2 cup cherry pie filling
  • 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk (or as needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, white sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Roll out the crescent dough and cut into rectangles or squares.
  4. Spoon a little cream cheese mixture into the center of each piece, then top with cherry pie filling.
  5. Fold edges slightly inward if desired and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. While baking, whisk together confectioners’ sugar, remaining 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, and milk to make a glaze.
  8. Drizzle glaze over danishes once slightly cooled and serve.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use full-fat cream cheese.
  • Feel free to use other fruit pie fillings like blueberry or apple if you prefer.
  • The glaze can be adjusted to your desired consistency by adding more milk if needed.
