Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tbsp canola oil or other neutral oil
- 4 green onions, thinly sliced (reserve dark green parts)
- ½ red bell pepper, finely diced
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- ½ cup Korean BBQ sauce
- 4 hamburger buns (Hawaiian or brioche recommended)
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add green onions and red bell pepper; sauté until softened.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Stir in Korean BBQ sauce and cook for another 2–3 minutes until well combined and heated through.
- If desired, lightly grill the buns cut-side down in butter.
- Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto buns.
- Garnish with reserved green onion parts and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- Swap ground beef for ground chicken or turkey for a leaner option.
- Use store-bought or homemade Korean BBQ sauce depending on preference.
- Toasted buns add texture and prevent sogginess.
- Add kimchi or pickled veggies for extra flavor and crunch.
