Description

This hearty and comforting Sausage and Cabbage Stew is packed with smoked sausages, potatoes, carrots, and cabbage, all simmered together in a flavorful chicken broth. It’s perfect for a cozy dinner!

Ingredients

Scale
  1. 1 lb smoked sausages, sliced
  2. 1/2 head cabbage, chopped
  3. 3 medium potatoes, cubed
  4. 2 carrots, sliced
  5. 1 onion, chopped
  6. 3 cups chicken broth
  7. 1 tsp garlic powder
  8. 1 tsp paprika
  9. 1 tbsp olive oil
  10. Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Brown the Sausages:
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the sliced sausages and brown them. Remove from the pot and set aside.

  • Sauté the Onion:
In the same pot, sauté the chopped onion until softened.

  • Add the Vegetables:
Add the cubed potatoes, sliced carrots, and chopped cabbage to the pot. Stir well.

  • Add the Broth and Seasoning:
Pour in the chicken broth, and add the garlic powder and paprika. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  • Simmer:
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.

  • Return the Sausages:
Add the browned sausages back to the pot and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

  • Serve:
Serve the stew warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • This stew can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • You can use any type of smoked sausage (such as kielbasa or bratwurst) for variation.
  • If you’d like a thicker stew, mash some of the potatoes in the pot before adding the sausages back.
