These Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes combine the savory goodness of Philly cheesesteaks with the ease of a sloppy joe! Featuring seasoned ground beef, sautéed veggies, a splash of A1 sauce, and melted provolone, this dish is a perfect twist on a classic.

Ingredients

Scale
  1. 1 lb. minced meat (beef or your preferred meat)
  2. 1 small yellow onion, diced
  3. 1 small green pepper, diced
  4. 8 oz cremini mushrooms, diced
  5. 2 tablespoons ketchup
  6. 2 to 4 tablespoons A1 sauce (adjust based on flavor preference)
  7. ½ teaspoon salt
  8. ½ teaspoon pepper
  9. 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  10. 1 cup beef broth
  11. 8 oz provolone cheese, sliced
  12. 6 hamburger buns (preferably sesame seed)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the minced meat until browned and no longer pink. Drain the excess grease.
  2. Add Vegetables: Return the meat to the skillet and add the diced onions, green pepper, and mushrooms. Sauté for 5 to 7 minutes, or until the onion has softened.
  3. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the beef broth with cornstarch, whisking until smooth. Pour the mixture over the cooked meat and stir well.
  4. Flavor the Mixture: Stir in the ketchup, A1 sauce, salt, and pepper. Let it cook for 5 minutes, or until most of the liquid has been absorbed. For a stronger flavor, adjust the A1 sauce to your preference.
  5. Melt the Cheese: Turn off the heat, and add the provolone cheese slices on top of the meat mixture. Let the cheese melt completely.
  6. Assemble the Sloppy Joes: Spoon the cheesy meat mixture onto the sesame seed buns and serve.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of A1 sauce depending on how bold you want the flavor.
  • For a different twist, try swapping provolone with another cheese like cheddar or mozzarella.
  • This recipe can be doubled if you’re serving a larger crowd!
