Ingredients

Scale
  1. For the Cake:
    • 1 box yellow cake mix
    • 4 eggs
    • ½ cup softened butter
    • 1 cup water
    • ½ cup creamy peanut butter

    For the Frosting:

    1. 3 cups confectioners’ sugar
    2. ½ cup creamy peanut butter
    3. ½ cup softened butter
    4. 2+ tablespoons milk (adjust for consistency)
    5. 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan and set aside.
  • Prepare the Cake: In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the softened butter and peanut butter until smooth. Add the eggs, cake mix, and water. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until the batter is smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  • Bake the Cake: Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely before frosting.
  • Prepare the Frosting: In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and peanut butter until well combined. Gradually add the confectioners’ sugar, vanilla extract, and 2 tablespoons of milk. Mix until the frosting is light and fluffy. If the frosting is too thick, add more milk to achieve the desired consistency.
  • Frost the Cake: Once the cake has cooled, spread the peanut butter frosting evenly over the cake.
  • Serve: Slice into 12-15 servings and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can adjust the sweetness of the frosting by adding more or less powdered sugar to taste.
  • The cake can be made a day ahead; just store it covered at room temperature.
