These homemade peanut butter eggs taste just like Reese’s but even better! Creamy, chocolatey, and oh-so-delicious, these treats are perfect for Easter baskets or a sweet springtime snack. Make them with simple ingredients and impress your family and friends this season!

Ingredients

Scale
  1. For the Peanut Butter Filling:

    • 1 cup creamy peanut butter (not natural)
    • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1/4 tsp salt

    For the Chocolate Coating:

    1. 12 oz milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate, melted
    2. 1 tbsp coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for a smoother coating)

Instructions

  • Make the Peanut Butter Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine peanut butter, softened butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, stirring until a thick, dough-like consistency forms.

  • Shape the Eggs: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop portions of the peanut butter mixture (about 1 ½ tablespoons each) and shape into egg-like ovals. Freeze for 30 minutes to firm up.

  • Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth. Stir in coconut oil if using.

  • Coat the Eggs: Using a fork, dip each peanut butter egg into the melted chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated. Let excess chocolate drip off before placing it back on the parchment paper. Optionally, drizzle extra chocolate on top or decorate with sprinkles for a festive touch.

  • Chill & Serve: Refrigerate the coated eggs for at least 15 minutes until the chocolate hardens. Enjoy your homemade Reese’s-style peanut butter eggs!

Notes

  • Make sure to freeze the peanut butter eggs before dipping in chocolate to keep them from falling apart.
  • Use high-quality chocolate for a smoother, richer coating.
  • Decorate with sprinkles for extra festivity!
