Description

Peach Jalapeno Jam is a delightful blend of ripe, juicy peaches and spicy jalapenos that creates a perfect sweet heat balance. This versatile jam can be used as a glaze, spread, or a unique gift, offering a vibrant flavor explosion that complements toast, cheeses, grilled meats, and more. Easy to make at home with simple ingredients, it boasts a long shelf life when properly canned.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruits

  • 4 cups fresh ripe peaches, peeled, pitted, and chopped

Peppers

  • 23 fresh jalapeno peppers, finely diced (seeds removed to reduce heat if desired)

Sweeteners & Acids

  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Setting Agents & Liquids

  • 3 tablespoons pectin
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Wash and peel the peaches, then pit and chop them into small chunks. Finely dice the jalapeno peppers, removing the seeds if you prefer less heat.
  2. Combine Ingredients in a Pot: Place the chopped peaches, diced jalapenos, sugar, lemon juice, water, and pectin in a large saucepan. Stir well to mix all ingredients evenly.
  3. Cook the Mixture: Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat while stirring frequently. Let it simmer gently until the fruit softens and the jam thickens, usually about 15 to 20 minutes.
  4. Test for Proper Consistency: Spoon some jam onto a chilled plate and let it cool for a minute. Push it with your finger; if it wrinkles and doesn’t run, the jam is ready to be jarred.
  5. Jar and Seal: Carefully ladle the hot Peach Jalapeno Jam into sterilized jars. Seal the jars immediately to preserve freshness and flavor.

Notes

  • Use ripe peaches for the best flavor and texture.
  • Remove jalapeno seeds to reduce heat if preferred.
  • Stir frequently during cooking to prevent sticking or burning.
  • Sterilize jars and lids by boiling or heating to ensure safe preservation.
  • Allow jam to cool slightly before sealing jars to avoid breakage from thermal shock.
