Description
Oven-baked cabbage burgers are a healthy, low-carb alternative to traditional burgers, with roasted cabbage slices as the base, topped with seasoned beef patties, tomato sauce, and melted cheese for a satisfying and flavorful meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 head green cabbage, cut into 1-inch slices
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce (or ketchup)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella, Monterey Jack), divided
- 1/2 tsp salt and black pepper
- 1/2 tsp red chili pepper flakes
- 1 tsp grated garlic
- 1/2 cup chopped green onion
- 1/2 cup chopped parsley
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400ºF (200ºC). Arrange cabbage slices on a baking sheet, brush with oil, and season with salt and pepper.
- Roast for 10 minutes until slightly tender.
- In a bowl, combine ground beef with garlic, green onion, parsley, red chili flakes, half the cheese, salt, and pepper. Shape into four patties.
- Top each cabbage slice with tomato sauce, cheese, a beef patty, and another sprinkle of cheese.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until the cheese melts and patties are cooked through. Serve hot.
Notes
- Feel free to use your favorite cheese, such as mozzarella or Monterey Jack, for a different flavor.
- For an extra crispy cabbage base, you can roast the cabbage for a few more minutes, but be careful not to burn it.
- These can be served with a side of salad or low-carb veggies for a complete meal.
