Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup orzo
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • Pickles, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess grease if needed.
  2. Stir in the orzo, beef broth, ketchup, and mustard.
  3. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is tender and the liquid is mostly absorbed.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
  5. Serve hot, topped with chopped pickles for a classic cheeseburger finish.

Notes

  • You can use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef for a leaner version.
  • For a little kick, add a dash of hot sauce or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes.
  • Use dill or bread-and-butter pickles depending on your flavor preference.
  • Add diced onions or sautéed mushrooms for extra depth.
  • Leftovers reheat well—store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
