Ingredients

Scale
  1. 1 lb ground beef
  2. 1/2 lb ground chicken
  3. 1 cup breadcrumbs
  4. 1/2 cup milk
  5. 1 egg
  6. 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  7. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  8. 1 tsp salt
  9. 1/2 tsp black pepper
  10. 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  11. 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  12. 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  13. Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground chicken, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme. Mix until well combined.
  • Shape and Bake: Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish. Bake for 45 minutes.
  • Add Cheese and Mushrooms: Remove the meatloaf from the oven and top with sliced mushrooms and shredded Swiss cheese. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Garnish and Serve: Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sauté the mushrooms before adding them on top of the meatloaf.
  • If you prefer a different cheese, you can substitute the Swiss cheese with mozzarella, cheddar, or a blend of your favorites.
  • This meatloaf pairs well with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.
