Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound white, deli-sliced American cheese
- ⅔ cup of milk or half-and-half
- 3–4 tablespoons of canned, chopped green chiles or jalapeños
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon chipotle powder (optional)
Instructions
- Slow Cooker Method: Turn on the slow cooker to the lowest setting. Add all ingredients into the pot, and heat while stirring until the mixture thickens and becomes smooth.
- Stovetop Method: In a double boiler, heat the milk, chopped chiles, and spices. Gradually add the slices of American cheese, 1-2 slices at a time, stirring continuously until fully melted and blended together.
Notes
- For a spicier dip, add more jalapeños or use a hotter variety of green chiles.
- Chipotle powder gives the dip a smoky flavor, but it can be omitted if you prefer a milder taste.
- The dip can be kept warm in a slow cooker for easy serving during a party
