Ingredients

Scale
  1. 1 pound white, deli-sliced American cheese
  2. ⅔ cup milk or half-and-half
  3. 34 tablespoons canned, chopped green chiles or jalapeños
  4. 1 teaspoon cumin
  5. 1 teaspoon chipotle powder (optional)

Instructions

  • Slow Cooker Method:
    • Turn the slow cooker to the lowest setting.
    • Add all ingredients (cheese, milk, chiles, cumin, chipotle powder) to the slow cooker.
    • Stir occasionally until the cheese is melted and the dip thickens.
  • Double Boiler Method:
    • In a double boiler, heat the milk, chopped chiles, and spices over medium heat.
    • Gradually add the American cheese slices, 1-2 slices at a time, stirring constantly until fully melted and smooth.

Notes

  • Adjust the level of heat by varying the amount of jalapeños or chipotle powder.
  • You can substitute half-and-half for a richer, creamier dip.
  • This dip is great for dipping tortilla chips, veggies, or pouring over tacos and nachos.
