Ingredients

Scale
  1. For the Donuts:

    • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
    • ½ cup granulated sugar
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • ½ teaspoon baking soda
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
    • ½ cup whole milk
    • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • ½ teaspoon maple extract
    • Vegetable oil (for frying)

    For the Maple Glaze:

    1. 2 cups powdered sugar
    2. 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
    3. 2 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
    4. ½ teaspoon maple extract
    5. 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  • Make the Donut Dough:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
    • In a separate bowl, mix milk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and maple extract until smooth.
    • Gradually combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms.
    • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and roll out to ½-inch thickness.
    • Cut out donuts using a donut cutter or a round cutter + a small round cutter for the holes.
  • Fry the Donuts:

    • Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
    • Fry 2-3 donuts at a time, cooking for 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
    • Remove from oil and place on a wire rack lined with paper towels.
  • Make the Maple Glaze:

    • In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, maple extract, and melted butter until smooth.
  • Glaze the Donuts:

    • Dip the warm donuts into the glaze, letting the excess drip off.
    • Place on a wire rack to allow the glaze to set.
  • Serve:

    • Enjoy your fresh, warm maple donuts with a hot cup of coffee!

Notes

  • Be sure to fry the donuts at the correct temperature (350°F) to get a crisp, golden exterior while keeping the inside soft and airy.
  • You can adjust the sweetness of the glaze to your liking by adding more or less powdered sugar.
  • Leftover donuts can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
