Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 8 oz wide egg noodles (or your favorite style)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Seasonings & Sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
Garnishes & Add-ons
- 3 green onions, sliced
- Optional: sliced bell peppers, carrots, snap peas for veggies
- Optional: toasted sesame seeds, chopped cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the noodles: Cook your chosen noodles in boiling salted water according to the package directions until just tender. Drain and set aside, reserving a little pasta water to loosen the sauce if needed.
- Cook the ground beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 6 to 8 minutes, then drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add aromatics and sauce: Stir in minced garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Then add soy sauce, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes if using, mixing well to coat the beef evenly and creating a savory-sweet base.
- Combine noodles with beef: Add the cooked noodles directly into the skillet with the beef mixture. Toss everything together over medium heat, adding reserved pasta water a tablespoon at a time if the sauce needs loosening.
- Finish and garnish: Drizzle sesame oil over the noodles and stir once last time. Remove from heat, then sprinkle with chopped green onions and serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- Use fresh garlic, ginger, and green onions to elevate the dish’s flavor.
- Keep noodles al dente to absorb sauce without becoming mushy.
- Brown ground beef thoroughly for deeper taste and texture.
- Adjust soy sauce and sugar to balance sweetness and saltiness to your preference.
- Finish with sesame oil for authentic nutty aroma and flavor.
