Ingredients

Scale

French Fries

  • 2832 oz frozen French fries
  • 1½ tsp brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp chili powder
  • ¼ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 4 tbsp ranch dressing (plus more for dipping)

Cheese Sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • ⅔ cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded medium cheddar cheese

Instructions

Instructions

  1. Cook frozen fries according to package directions until hot and crispy.
  2. While fries are cooking, combine brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
  3. Once fries are cooked, immediately sprinkle with the seasoning blend and toss to evenly coat.
  4. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  5. Slowly whisk in milk, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens—about 3–5 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar until completely melted and smooth.
  7. Drizzle ranch dressing over the seasoned fries, then top generously with warm cheese sauce.
  8. Serve immediately with extra ranch dressing on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra crispy fries, cook them in an air fryer or bake a few minutes longer than directed.
  • Want a spicier kick? Add a dash of cayenne or hot sauce to the cheese sauce.
  • Use freshly shredded cheddar for a smoother melt and better texture.
  • Double the cheese sauce for dipping or loading up nachos and burgers.
