Description
These Louisiana Voodoo Fries are loaded with bold Cajun flavor, crispy oven-baked fries, creamy ranch, and a smooth cheddar cheese sauce. Perfect for game day, parties, or a spicy comfort food snack that hits all the right notes!
Ingredients
6 medium russet potatoes
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1–2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
¼ cup creamy ranch dressing (plus extra for dipping)
Creamy Cheese Sauce:
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour
⅔ cup milk
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
Wash, scrub, and dry potatoes. Peel and cut into thick fries (about ¾ inch wide and 3 inches long).
Boil 1 quart of water with 3 tbsp salt. Steam the cut potatoes in a basket or colander over the simmering water for 10–12 minutes, until tender but still firm.
Transfer potatoes to a bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and toss to coat. Arrange fries in a single layer on a nonstick baking sheet.
Bake at 450°F for 10 minutes. Rotate the pan and bake an additional 5–10 minutes until golden and crisp.
Meanwhile, prepare the cheese sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and milk until smooth. Stir in shredded cheese until fully melted and creamy.
Sprinkle Cajun seasoning over baked fries and toss gently.
Drizzle with ranch and about ¼ cup cheese sauce. Serve remaining ranch and cheese sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
Use your favorite Cajun seasoning blend—store-bought or homemade.
For extra crispiness, pat the potatoes dry after steaming before baking.
Try adding cooked bacon bits or chopped green onions for even more flavor.
You can make the fries in an air fryer for a faster, crispier result.
