    • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tsp baking powder
    • ½ tsp baking soda
    • ½ tsp salt
    • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
    • ¾ cup sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 tbsp lemon zest
    • ½ cup sour cream
    • ¼ cup lemon juice
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract

    For the Cream Cheese Filling:

    1. 4 oz cream cheese, softened
    2. ¼ cup sugar
    3. 1 egg yolk
    4. ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, lemon zest, sour cream, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Spread the cream cheese mixture on top, then cover with the remaining batter.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden and set. Cool before slicing.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can top the bread with a lemon glaze or a dusting of powdered sugar after baking.
  • This bread keeps well for a couple of days in an airtight container. For longer storage, freeze slices individually.
