Description

These homemade Animal Style Fries are a delicious take on the famous In-N-Out loaded fries. Crispy fries are topped with melted American cheese, caramelized onions, and a tangy, rich special sauce—perfect for a snack or indulgent treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  1. Special Sauce:

    • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

    • 2 tbsp ketchup

    • 1/2 tbsp rice vinegar (or white vinegar)

    • 2 tbsp sweet relish

    • 1 tbsp sugar

    • 1/2 tbsp chili flakes (optional)

    Main Ingredients:

    1. 1/2 bag frozen fries

    2. Cheddar cheese or American cheese, sliced

    3. 2 onions, diced

    4. 2 tbsp butter

    5. 1 tbsp neutral oil

    6. 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Caramelize the Onions:

    • Melt butter in a pan over medium-low heat and add neutral oil.

    • Stir in diced onions and salt.

    • Cook slowly, stirring every few minutes, until onions are golden brown and caramelized (~30 minutes).

    • Lower heat if onions start to burn.

  • Prepare the Special Sauce:

    • In a bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, vinegar, relish, sugar, and chili flakes.

    • Stir until smooth and set aside.

  • Cook the Fries:

    • Bake or fry frozen fries according to package instructions until crispy.

  • Assemble the Fries:

    • Place hot fries on a serving plate.

    • Add cheddar or American cheese slices on top and broil for 3-5 minutes until melted.

    • Top with caramelized onions and drizzle with special sauce.

  • Serve & Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of chili flakes in the special sauce to suit your spice preference.

  • If you prefer, you can make your own fries from scratch instead of using frozen ones for a more personalized touch.
