Ingredients
Scale
-
For Pizza Dough:
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
For Pizza Sauce:
- Fresh tomatoes, diced
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon oregano
Instructions
- Activate Yeast: In a bowl, combine the yeast, sugar, and warm water. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Prepare Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until the dough begins to form.
- Knead Dough: Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let It Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Shape Dough: Once risen, punch down the dough to release air bubbles. For a thin crust, divide dough into 2 portions. Roll out to desired thickness on a floured surface.
- Rest & Preheat: Transfer dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Let the dough rest for 15 minutes.
- Add Toppings & Bake: Add your favorite pizza toppings. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted.
For Pizza Sauce:
- Prepare Sauce: Dice fresh tomatoes. In a pan, heat oil and sauté garlic until fragrant. Add tomatoes, sugar, salt, and oregano. Cook until softened.
- Blend: Remove from heat and cool for a few minutes. Blend until smooth or leave some chunks for texture. Pour onto pizza dough or store.
