These homemade glazed doughnuts are soft, fluffy, and golden brown, perfect for breakfast or dessert! Lightly fried and dipped in a smooth, sweet glaze, they’ll melt in your mouth. A simple recipe that’s sure to become a family favorite!

Ingredients

    1. 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

    2. 1/2 cup milk, warmed

    3. 1/4 cup sugar

    4. 2 teaspoons active dry yeast

    5. 1 egg, beaten

    6. 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

    7. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    8. Oil for frying

For the Glaze:

    1. 2 cups powdered sugar

    2. 34 tablespoons milk

    3. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

  • Add egg, melted butter, vanilla, and gradually mix in flour to form a soft dough.

  • Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.

  • Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out doughnuts with a doughnut cutter.

  • Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).

  • Fry doughnuts in batches until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

  • For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.

 

  • Dip each doughnut into the glaze, then let set on a wire rack.

Notes

  • Make sure the oil is at the right temperature (375°F) to ensure the doughnuts fry properly.

 

  • You can use any glaze flavor or topping you like for variation.
