This homemade dog food recipe combines lean ground chicken, brown rice, spinach, carrots, and zucchini to create a healthy, nutrient-packed meal for your dog.

Ingredients

Scale
  1. 2 cups brown rice
  2. 2 pounds lean ground chicken
  3. 2 cups spinach, chopped
  4. 1 large carrot, shredded (about 1 cup)
  5. 1 small zucchini, shredded (about 1 cup)

Instructions

  • In a large pot or saucepan, combine 4 cups of water and brown rice. Bring to a boil, then lower heat to a simmer and cover.
  • Cook the rice for 45 minutes or until soft and all the water is absorbed.
  • While the rice is cooking, cook the ground chicken in a large skillet over medium-high heat for 6-8 minutes, or until no longer pink.
  • Add the chopped spinach, shredded carrot, and zucchini to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the spinach wilts and the vegetables soften.
  • Remove the chicken and vegetable mixture from the heat and set aside to cool.
  • Once the rice is cooked, stir the rice and chicken mixture together.
  • Let the food cool completely before serving it to your dog or storing it for later.
