- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 4–5 medium russet potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 6 patties.
- Lightly brown the patties in a skillet over medium heat. Remove and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and flour until smooth to make the gravy.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes and onions in the baking dish. Place browned patties on top, then add the remaining potatoes and onions.
- Pour the milk gravy evenly over the entire dish. Cover tightly with foil.
- Bake covered for 1 hour, until potatoes are tender.
- Uncover, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top, and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Use a mandoline slicer for even potato slices that cook uniformly.
- Add a pinch of thyme or parsley to the beef mixture for extra flavor.
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
