Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 head green cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional garnish)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Add garlic and ginger to the skillet, stir-fry for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Toss in cabbage and carrots. Stir-fry for 5–7 minutes until vegetables are tender but still crisp.
  5. Pour in soy sauce, rice vinegar, and hoisin sauce if using. Mix well to coat all ingredients.
  6. Season with crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper to taste.
  7. Remove from heat. Sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to keep the dish healthy and reduce excess fat.
  • Hoisin sauce is optional but adds a nice sweetness; omit if you want a lower sugar version.
  • Adjust crushed red pepper flakes according to your preferred spice level.
