Ingredients
Proteins & Dairy
- Ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio) – 1 lb
- Egg – 1 (for topping or mix)
- Bacon strips – 4 slices
- Cheddar cheese slices – 4
Produce
- Avocado slices – 1/2 avocado
- Tomato slices – 1 medium tomato
- Pickles – 1/4 cup sliced
Breads & Fats
- Toasted brioche buns – 4
- Butter or oil (for toasting and cooking) – 2 tbsp
Seasonings
- Salt – to taste
- Pepper – to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Patty: Season the ground beef generously with salt and pepper. Form into 4 evenly sized patties about ¾ inch thick. Make a small indent in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
- Cook the Bacon: In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the bacon strips until crisp. Remove them and drain on paper towels. Reserve the bacon fat in the skillet for cooking the patties.
- Cook the Patties: Using the same skillet with the reserved bacon fat, add the patties. Cook each side for about 3-4 minutes for medium doneness. In the final minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty to melt.
- Toast the Buns: Lightly butter the brioche buns and toast them on a separate pan or grill until golden brown and slightly crispy.
- Assemble the Burger: Begin with the bottom bun, add the cheesy beef patty, then layer with the crispy bacon, avocado slices, tomato slices, pickles, and a fried or soft-boiled egg if desired. Top with the toasted bun and press lightly to hold together.
Notes
- Use fresh tomatoes and ripe avocados for best flavor and texture.
- Keep patties thick enough (about ¾ inch) to stay juicy and satisfying.
- Always toast the buns to prevent sogginess and add a pleasant crunch.
- Cook bacon until crispy but not burnt for optimal texture contrast.
- Customize egg cooking style to your preference: fried, scrambled, or poached.
