Ingredients
- 1 box (3 oz) orange gelatin (Jell-O)
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1 small can (11 oz) mandarin oranges, drained
- 1 small can (8 oz) crushed pineapple, drained
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 1 cup whipped topping (Cool Whip) or homemade whipped cream
- 1/2 cup cottage cheese (optional, for extra creaminess)
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional, for crunch)
Instructions
-
Prepare the Gelatin
In a medium bowl, dissolve the orange gelatin in boiling water, stirring until completely dissolved. Add cold water, mix well, and let it cool slightly (but not set). -
Mix the Salad
Stir in the drained mandarin oranges, crushed pineapple, and mini marshmallows. If using, fold in the cottage cheese for a creamy texture. Gently fold in the whipped topping until everything is combined and fluffy. -
Chill & Serve
Transfer to a serving bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm. Before serving, sprinkle with chopped pecans or walnuts for a little crunch (optional).
Notes
- You can use homemade whipped cream instead of Cool Whip for a fresher taste.
- For an extra touch, add maraschino cherries on top before serving.
