Description

These crispy and cheesy fried cheese curds are coated in a bold Doritos crust, making them an irresistible snack or party appetizer! Pair them with a zesty homemade dipping sauce for the ultimate cheese-lover’s indulgence

Ingredients

  1. Fried Cheese Curds:
    10 ounces cheese curds
    1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    2 eggs, beaten
2 cups Doritos (any flavor), crushed in a food processor
    Canola oil, for frying

    Dipping Sauce:
    1/2 cup mayonnaise
    1 tbsp horseradish
    2 tbsp ketchup
    1 tsp paprika
    1/8 tsp oregano
    Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Cheese Curds:
Place flour, beaten eggs, and crushed Doritos into separate shallow bowls.
Dredge each cheese curd in flour, dip in egg, then coat in crushed Doritos, pressing gently to adhere.
Place coated cheese curds on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze for 30 minutes.

Fry the Cheese Curds:
Heat canola oil in a deep pan or pot to 360°F (182°C).
Fry the cheese curds in batches for 1–2 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

Make the Dipping Sauce:
Combine mayonnaise, horseradish, ketchup, paprika, oregano, cayenne (if using), salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
Mix until smooth and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

Serve:
Serve hot, crispy cheese curds with the chilled dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

  • Use any Doritos flavor—Nacho Cheese and Cool Ranch are fan favorites.

  • Freezing the coated curds helps prevent cheese from leaking while frying.

  • Make the sauce in advance to let flavors meld.

  • Leftovers can be reheated in the oven or air fryer to restore crispiness.
